Capital projects · Site Management & Construction Management On the construction site, the plan becomes reality.

That is where it is decided whether good planning also leads to a good result.

Why presence matters

Only those who look can judge.

Our site managers are on site and assess execution and progress from what they see themselves – not from a report.

Between the plan and the finished plant lies execution. We manage it through clear control loops for safety, quality and schedule: inspect, assess, rectify, document. Every day goes into the site diary – progress, obstructions, instructions and inspections. This evidence is created along the way and later becomes the yardstick against which every claim is measured.

And we prepare acceptance from day one. If you rectify open items continuously, you go into handover with a short punch list that operations can work with straight away.

Around the construction site, the other disciplines come into play: schedule, cost and documents as Project Controls on demand, securing evidence for claims in Contract & Claims Management and contractor onboarding through Onboarding Excellence. The related task in a plant shutdown is called Execution Coordination.

Scope of services

What we take on

We run the construction site with clear control loops for safety, quality and schedule.

Site & construction supervision

Checking execution against the design, regulations and the generally accepted codes of practice.

Coordination of trades

Sequences, interfaces and site logistics aligned so that the trades can work alongside each other instead of on top of each other.

Quality assurance & documentation

Inspection and acceptance processes and a complete site diary – progress, obstructions and instructions recorded daily.

HSE coordination

Safety on the construction site with a clear interface to the SiGeKo (health and safety coordinator). Occupational safety is managed, not left to chance.

Defects, acceptance & handover

Punch-list items tracked continuously, acceptance prepared in an orderly way and as-built documentation that holds up in later operation.

What you gain

What you gain

  • Built qualityDeviations are spotted while they are still inexpensive to fix.
  • Control on siteSchedule and cost are assessed where they arise.
  • Reliable evidenceComplete documentation through to as-built handover.
  • Safe construction siteHSE coordinated consistently, with a clear interface to the SiGeKo.
  • Clean handoverReady for operations – and for maintenance afterwards.
Our approach

At the end there is a clean handover.

Four steps – the fourth only succeeds if the third has happened every day.

  1. 01

    Set up

At the start of construction, the control loops are in place: who inspects what, how often, against which standard? Plus the inspection plan, reporting line and the form of documentation. Whatever is not settled here gets negotiated later.

  2. 02

    Supervise

Our site managers are on site and assess execution and progress from what they see themselves. Every day goes into the site diary: weather, trades present, progress, obstructions, instructions, inspections.

  3. 03

    Rectify

An open item is given a measure, a person responsible and a date – and is followed up until it is done. Whatever is rectified today does not appear on the defects list at acceptance.

  4. 04

    Hand over

Acceptance is prepared from the start: punch-list items tracked continuously, inspections documented, as-built documents kept up to date. At the end there is a handover that operations can work with straight away.

Context

When we run the construction site

Three situations – what they have in common is that someone on site has to be able to make decisions.

01During executionFor construction and installation projects, as soon as several trades are working on site at the same time.
02When your own capacity is tightWhen your own site management cannot cover the volume alongside day-to-day business.
03For schedule-critical sitesWhen a fixed date has to be met and there is no more room for rework.

What complements site management

On the construction site, what is controlled elsewhere is put into practice: schedule and cost, the evidence and the access of contractor companies.

Onboarding Excellence

Digital onboarding for contractors, including safety induction – fully documented and cost-saving.

Frequently asked questions

Questions answered

What does ep-cm's construction management include?

Site coordination, construction supervision against the design and regulations, enforcement of HSE standards, progress and variation management, and structured acceptances with defect tracking. We work for the operator and report to the operator – not to the executing companies.

How do you ensure quality on site?

Through presence. Our construction managers assess execution and progress with their own eyes and spot deviations before they become defects. Anything that goes wrong unnoticed on site costs twice as much later: once in construction and once in rework.

How does site management differ from execution coordination in a turnaround?

In pace and scale. A turnaround is about shifts in a plant that has been shut down, often right next to operating neighbouring plants, about isolations and trades working in the tightest of spaces. A construction site is about weeks and months, construction sequences, regulations and an acceptance with legal effect. The task is related; the craft is not.

Why is site documentation so important?

Because in case of doubt it is the only thing that counts. Complete records of progress, disruptions and changes in scope are the basis for assessing variations soundly and rejecting unjustified claims. The site diary is kept as you go – it cannot be reconstructed later.

Do you include contractor onboarding?

Yes. Through Onboarding Excellence, contractor companies are inducted in several languages, documented and admitted to the site under access control. Anyone without the induction does not get through the gate – and nobody has to check this by hand in the morning.

What does site management cost?

We charge by the hour, by day rates or at a fixed price – we work out together which model fits. The effort depends on the size of the site, the number of trades and the presence required. For a first indication, the construction period and the scope are enough for us. The initial call is free of charge.
